The Occupied Washington Times Union Connection

The Occupied Washington Times Union Connection(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)The latest issue of the Occupied Washington Times – Occupy DC’s newspaper – has hit the street, and attentive readers will notice something new on the back page: a union bug. “My grandfather was a union postal carrier so I’ve always seen what that can do for workers and the quality of service and product” Ben Daniels, an editor for the Occupied Washington Times, told Union City. “The collaboration of those institutions with the occupy groups has been so important.” When Daniels reached out to the Metro Council for support printing the paper, the Council was happy to help ensure a top-quality publication. “This is another great example of how Occupy and labor can collaborate to everyone’s benefit” said Council President Jos Williams. The Occupied Washington Times worked with longtime Council printer Doyle Printing & Offset Company to produce their full-color paper, which features stories about recent Occupy DC actions, personal stories from occupiers in DC and across the country, a centerfold spread of photos from the occupation, and of course that union bug on the back. Papers are free and can be picked up at the Occupy DC Library, Anarchist Library, and Information tent, all at McPherson Square. The Occupied Washington Times is already seeking submissions for forthcoming issues; for more information email submissions@occupydc.org.
