Voting for DC's Scrooge of the Year(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Who’s the Scroogiest of all? DC Jobs with Justice needs help awarding the 2011 Scrooge of the Year, given annually to a person or company that has done the most “dastardly deeds” to DC workers. Nominees include Verizon, which still refuses to agree to a contract with its workers, Walmart, which plans to build six stores in DC without an enforceable community benefits agreement, and Solange Vivens (pictured at right), CEO of VMT, who continues to profit by overworking and underpaying the workers at her DC healthcare facilities. Click here to cast your vote for one of these or many other Scrooge candidates. Votes are $1 each and raise money for DC Jobs with Justice – a non-profit “dedicated to protecting the rights of working people and supporting community struggles to build a more just society.” The Scrooge of the Year will be announced at the DC Jobs with Justice Winter Cabaret on December 10. Click here to reserve your spot at the cabaret and find out who “wins” the 2011 Scrooge title.
