Labor On The Move: Boundy to Direct AFL-CIO’s New Campaigns Department

Monday, September 26, 2011

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)David Boundy has been named the Director of the AFL-CIO’s new Campaigns Department, responsible for coordinating the mobilization work of the more than 12 million members of the AFL-CIO.  Boundy is returning to the AFL-CIO, having served previously as Deputy Political Director from 1996-2005. In his new role, Boundy will be responsible for mobilizing working families year-round to speak out on economic policy and other important issues, integrating the AFL-CIO’s new SuperPAC into the union movement’s traditional mobilization program.  The new department is part of the AFL-CIO’s ongoing effort to be an active, independent voice for all working people – both union and non-union. “Working people are under siege from politicians more committed to corporate donors than creating jobs, so we are excited to bring David Boundy on board to help give workers a powerful voice in our economy and our political system,” said AFL-CIO President Rich Trumka. "David’s passion on behalf of working women and men is matched only by his creativity, which is what we need to turn our politics and our economy right side up so they work again for working families.”
