Taking Back the Budget Debate

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)A Town Hall meeting  is being held tonight in Silver Spring to help organize for real, progressive solutions. "From Washington, DC, to Montgomery County, Maryland, we're in a crisis of priorities," says UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO, one of over 60 sponsoring organizations sponsoring the Town Hall. "Public employees know the devastating effects that budget cuts have on critical services and the community, but we cannot fight those cuts on our own.  As we prepare to enter our next round of negotiations, community partners that will join us in advocating for budgets that protect public services and vulnerable citizens are more important than ever." Speakers include Rep. Donna Edwards, State Senators Roger Manno and Jamie Raskin, Economist Heather Boushey, and IPS Fellow Karen Dolan. The moderator is NAACP's Elbridge James.
