AG Dept Workers Organize

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

Volunteer organizers passed out leaflets yesterday to workers at the US Department of Agriculture, where an organizing drive is now underway. After workers reported that Ag Dept supervisors were discouraging employees from getting involved in the union, AFSCME Council 26 protested to Departmental officials and supervisors have now been warned against intimidating and interfering with union organizing efforts. In today’s high-profile leafleting, volunteer organizers marched through areas of the Dept of Ag South Building where employees of the USDA's Office of Operations work, freely talking to workers and distributing a pro-union leaflet. Stay tuned for updates on the campaign.
