“Doug Duncan’s withdrawal from the race for Governor is marked with both sadness and hope,” said Metro Council President Jos Williams Friday. “Doug has been an outstanding champion of working men and women throughout his three terms as County Executive of Montgomery County.” Williams noted that Duncan has added to union ranks by expanding collective bargaining to include temporary and part-time county workers, and “has stood up for working families by taking on Comcast, the Journal newspapers and Sterling Laundry to aid labor in its disputes with employers.” Williams applauded Duncan for “His courageous decision to publicly acknowledge his illness,” saying that this will “give hopes to the tens of thousands in the state who also suffer from clinical depression.” Williams also reiterated “the importance of both supporting Martin O’Malley and defeating Bob Ehrlich in the General Election.” .
