(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

With a combined 95% pro-labor voting record in the last four years, the Prince George's District 24 delegation -- Senator Nathaniel Exum, along with Delegates Carolyn Howard, Joanne Benson and Michael Vaughn -- have a one of the most pro-union General Assembly groups in the state. District 24 is home to over 7,000 union members affiliated with the Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO.  District 24 is a diverse district economically and covers portions of Coral Hills, Capitol Heights, Seat Pleasant, Fairmont Heights, Palmer Park, Glenarden, Mitchelville and Upper Marlboro. The District 24 delegation has always been supportive of labor and has included labor in it's ranks: Patricia Fletcher, former AFSCME Prince George's staff representative who is now running for school board, served ably for many years as a District 24 representative on the Democratic Central Committee. The Delegation is supporting as her replacement James W. Allen Jr, former president of Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) Local 689 and current Vice-President of the Alliance for Retired Americans.  Allen also serves on the Executive Board of the Maryland State & District of Columbia AFL-CIO. The Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO has endorsed all of these candidates in the upcoming Primary Election on September 12 and they enjoy the support of many other labor organizations as well. - reported by Craig Simpson
