CWA's Tarlau Wins in Mt. Rainier

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Local activist and CWA member Jimmy Tarlau will be sworn in today as a City Council member in Mt. Rainier, MD. Tarlau won in last Tuesday’s election, running unopposed after collecting over 150 signatures on his nominating petitions (only 20 were needed), visiting over 400 homes and apartments and talking to many of the registered voters in his ward. “Mt. Rainier is a very diverse community,” says Tarlau, “Each group has somewhat different priorities and it will be a challenge to work on each group's specific priorities yet also to try and figure out common themes that will help everybody in our town. I look forward to the challenge.”
