Mystery Solved

Monday, May 7, 2007

Last Tuesday’s mystery demo (5/4 UNION CITY) was by the Mid-Atlantic Regional Council of Carpenters, which targeted Ernst & Young for hiring a construction company that subcontracted work to Maryland Applicators, which it says is eroding area standards for local carpenters. With “substandard wage employers like Maryland Applicators,” the Carpenters say, “the community ends up paying the tab for employee health care and the low wages paid tend to lower general community standards.” The union is asking supporters to call Ernst & Young at 202-327-6000 to urge them to insist that subcontractors meet area labor standards. For more info call the Carpenters at 703-860-4194.
