Wednesday, May 2, 2007

Labor-endorsed candidate Muriel Bowser won Tuesday's DC Ward 4 City Council member race with 4,486 votes, or 40% of the total vote; 2nd-place finisher Michael Brown got 3,269 votes. "Labor contributed at least a thousand Ward 4 union votes to Muriel Bowser's victory," said Metro Council Political Mobilizer Rick Powell. The coordinated labor effort for Bowser, who won endorsement for her commitments to labor issues, included a mailing to 2,400 Ward 4 union voters, GOTV calls to 1,700 targeted union voters and a strong visible labor presence at the polls on Election Day.
