Planning for Iragi Union Leaders DC Visit

Thursday, April 26, 2007

As Congress and President Bush spar this week over funding and ending US involvement in the war in Iraq, planning continues for a June visit by two Iraqi union leaders. Faleh Abood Umara, General Secretary of the Federation of Oil Workers, and Hashemeya Mohsen al Hussein, President of the Electrical Utility Workers Union, have received visas for the visit to Washington and ten other cities. Possible activities during the DC visit include a labor breakfast, women's lunch, meetings on Capitol Hill, as well as a possible protest to publicize an anti-worker oil law under consideration. The next planning meeting is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, May 1, at 6:30P. Contact tour coordinator Denice Lombard for more info: denicez@verizon.net
