Farmworkers Target Burger King

Thursday, April 26, 2007

On the heels of a major victory against McDonald's, the Coalition of Immokalee Workers has set its sights on Burger King next. Students, labor leaders, and community activists will target the Chinatown Burger King this Saturday urging them to follow McDonald’s lead and pay farmworkers a penny more per pound of tomatoes picked and establish a code of conduct respecting the rights of farmworkers. A “Fair Food DC” Coalition, composed of DC area allies, will meet briefly after Saturday’s action to strategize next steps in the campaign against Burger King.
