Labor Chorus Concert Benefits Homeless

Monday, April 23, 2007

A June 2 concert by the DC Labor Chorus will benefit the Dinner Program for Homeless Women. “I’ll be there and I hope you will be too,” says Metro Washington Council President Jos Williams. “I rarely feel better than after hearing our local labor movement’s secret weapon perform.” The Dinner Program provided more than 100,000 meals and a wide variety of other services to area homeless at the First Trinity Lutheran Church last year and has been operating since 1979. The Labor Chorus includes members from many area unions. The chorus has performed at venues across the region, from music festivals, union conferences and National Labor College events, to rallies and picket lines, “spreading solidarity and building spirit and hope,” according to Chorus member Fred Solowey.
