CSA's News You Can Use: Still Time to Apply for 9/11 Health Benefits

Friday, November 1, 2013

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Union members exposed to the stew of toxins released when the World Trade Center collapsed on 9/11 can still apply for health benefits. The October 3 deadline for those seeking money from the Victims Compensation Fund has passed. But that only applies to financial compensation. Tens of thousands of workers and volunteers – some of whom are from the metro Washington area - who fear they are suffering from 9/11 related illnesses have until 2016 to apply for the health care they need and deserve under the World Trade Center Health Program. Even if they show no sign of illness, first responders and volunteers who participated in the rescue, recovery or cleanup efforts may qualify for screening, treatment and medication – all at no cost to them. Click here to apply in English or call 855 4WTC-AID. Information also is available in Spanish, Chinese and Polish. photo courtesy www.zadrogaclaimsinfo.com
