DC Labor Map Highlight: National Union Building(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)The historic National Union Building on F Street NW actually has nothing to do with unions. The fire proof steel frame brownstone was built for the National Union Fire Insurance Company. Located in the Penn Quarter neighborhood, it was designed by Glenn Brown in 1890 and is an example of Romanesque architecture that’s currently owned by DC-based LivingSocial. Check out more cool local labor sites on the DC Labor Map, which includes sites of local labor struggles, union hotels and restaurants, local and international unions offices, plus labor art, monuments and more!
