Job Training Students Tour Washington Hilton(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Students in the Hospitality Express 4 Success job training program for Prince Georges County young workers toured the Washington Hilton last week. The union hotel's workers are represented by five unions and provided a "stellar tour" said Community Services Agency Executive Director Kathleen McKirchy. Department heads from engineering, housekeeping, human resources and food & beverage "did a thorough tour of the restaurants and kitchens, providing information on the different jobs involved," said McKirchy. The students are in the ninth week of the 15-week program. "This tour enabled the students to see the whole job picture at a hotel, from the front of the house to the back, helping them get a better idea of what their options are," said McKirchy. The program is funded by the Greater Washington Workforce Development Collaborative and partners include The Training Source and Prince Georges Community College. - photo by Kathleen Mckirchy
