More Shutdown Casualties

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said it would not be sending investigators to the scene of last weekend’s Metro accident because of the staff furloughs. One man was killed and two transit agency workers were seriously injured in the accident. NTSB Chairman Deborah A.P. Hersman said in an e-mail that because the public affairs staff was furloughed, the agency could not provide additional updates to the news media. – from The Washington Post
