IBEW 1900 Gets Out The Word(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)The 1,600 members of IBEW Local 1900 – who work for PEPCO –will soon receive a letter from their President and Business Manager, Jim Griffin, encouraging their support of labor’s community services agencies. “These agencies (CSA in metro DC, the Baltimore Labor Agency and the Lancaster County, PA Labor Agency) that provide services to workers and our members in places where they live are invaluable and deserve to be supported with generous financial contributions,” said Griffin.  “Giving through the worksite, through payroll deduction, is a great way to give and support labor’s own charities.” To help with the large mailing, CSA Board Member Ann Hoffman and CSA staff Sylvia Casaro-Dietert and Kathleen McKirchy spent a few hours earlier this week – folding and stuffing to get the mailing out. “It’s the least we could do to show how much we appreciate Local 1900’s commitment to community services,” said CSA Executive Director Kathleen McKirchy. “Thanks to this mailing, we certainly won’t be ‘Labor’s Best Kept Secret’ in this local!” McKirchy urged other area union members to support the CSA “through your own worksite campaigns, which run through the end of the year, by designating your contribution to Designation Number 8253 (United Way and DC One Fund)  and Designation Number 19579 (Combined Federal Campaign).” photo: (seated, l-r); CSA’s Sylvia Casaro and Local 1900 Office Manager Nyla Thomas; (standing, l-r): CSA board member Ann Hoffman, Local 1900 President Jim Griffin; photo by Kathleen McKirchy
