(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)With the United Way, Combined Federal and DC ONE Fund Campaigns now in full swing, area workers and union members have an opportunity to support labor’s Community Services Agency (CSA) through payroll deduction at work.  Activists and local labor leaders can support CSA – whose motto is “Labor Cares - Labor Shares!” -- by making your own charitable contribution, putting info about CSA on your local’s website encouraging giving, sending out a letter of support to your local union members encouraging them to give, inviting CSA staff to come in and give presentations to your executive board and membership meetings between now and the end of the year, and making sure your local union makes a contribution to United Way and earmarks to CSA. CSA’s designation numbers are: United Way- 8253; DC One Fund- 8253; Combined Federal Campaign- 19579. “CSA provides emergency financial assistance, job training and placement programs, information and referral, lay-off and strike preparation and support, food drives, holiday baskets and so much more,” says Executive Director Kathleen McKirchy, “all to help workers and their families. Please give generously!” Reach her at 202-974-8221; kmckirchy@dclaborarchives.org.
