Federal Contract Workers to March on White House Wednesday(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

They’ve struck, they’ve demonstrated and now low-wage federal contract workers are taking their grievances directly to the White House. This Wednesday,  September 25th – starting at 10:45a – they’ll march from Freedom Plaza to the White House for a prayer service and rally as they deliver petitions to President Obama calling on him to use his executive powers to lift millions of low wage federal contract workers out of poverty.  The petitions include hundreds of personal letters written by workers, 250,000 public petition signatures, as well as a letter signed by the leaders of major religious organizations.  The campaign has drawn the support of the New York Timesand the AFL-CIO, which passed a resolution calling for executive action at its recent convention. photo of July strike by Smithsonian workers by Julia Kann/Union City
