Fired Walmart Workers' Anti-Retaliation Campaign Heats Up DC Tomorrow(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

Walmart’s going to feel some of that infamous Washington, D.C., summer time swamp heat Thursday when 10 recently fired Walmart workers will be joined by community, faith and union supporters outside the low-wage retail giant’s D.C. federal lobbying offices. The noon demonstration (701 8th St N.W. near the Chinatown metro stop) is the kick-off of a campaign by Walmart workers to end what they say is Walmart’s retaliation against workers for exercising their rights and freedoms, including the right to join unions.  Earlier this year, Walmart workers at many stores around the country walked off the job and those actions followed the first ever strike by Walmart workers last fall. Click here for more information and to RSVP. - Mike Hall, AFL-CIO Now blog
