Tri-County COPE Hosts MD Gov Candidates, Reviews Endorsement Timeline

Tri-County COPE hosted Maryland gubernatorial candidates Heather Mizeur and Doug Gansler at last week’s meeting, along with Aisha Braveboy, who’s running for Attorney General. COPE members also reviewed the proposed timeline for the endorsement process. Questionnaires for the local state legislative races will be presented to the Metro Council’s Executive Board for approval on September 16, and then sent out to candidates by the 18th with a deadline of September 30th for their return. Interviews are tentatively planned to begin October 1st with recommendations going from the all the COPEs to the MWC Executive Board at their Oct 21st meeting. The Maryland and DC State AFL-CIO will consider endorsements in statewide races at their October 25th COPE meeting.
