Labor Books & Movies Just a Click Away

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Looking
for great books or movies about the issues you
care about? Here are two
great sources: TheWorkSite.org and FilmsForAction. TheWorkSite.org
offers book
and music reviews as part of
its “free, adaptable tools for grassroots
education and organizing.” Also available are
media tips, writing tips, and a whole section
on unions, including new
member orientation, contract campaigns, union
political communication and more.
“What I like about
the book section is that it includes fiction,
frequently mysteries with a union or
progressive bent,” says Carl Goldman,
Executive Director of AFSCME Council 26.
FilmsForAction offers a great
collection of films and videos, organized by
subject, and includes not only trailers but
often entire movies online, from the 5-minute
“Bolivia: Fighting for decent
work” to Alex
Gibney’s 58-minute 2012 film “Park Avenue: Money, Power
& the American Dream.”. Plus, check out
their cool “Wall of
Films”, passed along to
us by AFSCME 2910’s Saul Schneiderman.
