Rally Doubleheader Tomorrow
Monday, July 1, 2013(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)
Saying that it
would reduce Social Security
benefits, the Maryland/DC Alliance for Retired
Americans (ARA), AFGE Local 1923
and their allies will rally tomorrow against the
proposed “Chained CPI.” The ARA warns
that the seemingly arcane change in
cost-of-living adjustments to Social
Security benefits could cost retirees thousands
of dollars. “The chained CPI is
a back door way of trying to balance the budget
on the backs of America’s
seniors!” says ARA. The noontime rally on
Tuesday will be at Social Security
National Headquarters in Baltimore. Also at
noon tomorrow, CWA is heading up
a "Give Me
5" demo in front of the Chamber
of Commerce (downtown
DC, Connecticut & I) about the urgent
need to get confirmation of the
full five members of the National Labor
Relations Board (NLRB). See On The
Line above for
full details on both events.
