Solidarity Center Report: Peru Unionists Push to Improve Labor Laws

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Textile unions in Peru are gaining broad
international support for repeal of a law that
limits garment worker rights. The 1978 law
subjects workers to temporary contracts without
the right to collectively bargain, strike or
join a union. Meanwhile, an International Labor
Organization (ILO) report released this weeks
says 30 million jobs are needed globally just
to get back to the pre-recession norm. Read
