(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)The union representing employees of the Department of Housing and Urban Development says the agency's reorganization plans violate an agreement it made concerning employee furloughs, reports FederalNewsRadio. HUD plans to close dozens of field offices. Ten percent of staff or about 900 people could be affected. "HUD hits us with two reorganizations, one a much bigger one, the multifamily, and the other, a few small offices, 16 of them," said Eddie Eitches, president of the American Federation of Government Employees council, which represents most HUD workers.
