Bikeshare Workers Petition for Backpay, Benefits

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)18 Capital Bikeshare workers launched a petition yesterday, demanding backpay for wages and health benefits they say were withheld. The petition, targeting Alta Bike Share president Mia Birk, cites the workers being owed over $100,000 total, and calls on Birk to “set an example as a leader in good green jobs” by extending fair wages and benefits to workers.
