IBEW 26 Apprenticeship Club Gives Back(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)In just a short amount of time, the IBEW Local 26 Apprenticeship Club (ARC-DC) has become one of the most active groups within the local. What started as a few apprentices gathering for some fun away from the jobsite has grown into a committed group making a difference in the community. ARC-DC members have volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, helped out at numerous Local 26 events and, most recently, spent a morning at The Shepherd’s Table, a soup kitchen in Silver Spring, MD, where four members prepared and served meals to community members. “Our name is Apprentices Reaching our Community and that community doesn’t just mean within our union or what’s easy for us,” said fifth-year apprentice Adam Reed, who chairs the group. “We need to be out in the streets… No matter how many people we get together, we are making an impact!” - report adapted from IBEW 26’s IN Charge magazine; photos: (above) washing dishes at the soup kitchen; (below) fifth-year apprentice Adam Reed, Journeyman Tarn Puvapiromquan, second-year apprentice Christopher Drexel, and Journeyman Kevin Johnson, Jr., along with Kevin’s daughter wrap up their work; photos  courtesy IBEW 26
