Labor Photo: Teachers Wear Blue to "Put the Brakes on High Stakes"

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Calling for an end to "high stakes testing," WTU members donned blue yesterday -- along with AFT members across the country -- for a Day of Action. "We need to pump the brakes on all punitive aspects of Common Core Standards ["high-stakes testing"] until teachers are trained and equipped to help students master this new approach to teaching and learning" says WTU President Nathan Saunders.
