What's Next for Iraq?

Tuesday, May 7, 2013

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)“Iraq remains one of the most violent countries in the world, the U.S.-backed Iran-oriented government remains as corrupt as ever, and the sectarian legacy of the U.S. occupation remains powerful,” report Gene Bruskin and Phyllis Bennis in their free “What’s Next for Iraq” talk tonight at 6 at Busboys and Poets.  “But Iraq’s people are rising up to reclaim their country and their rights. Civil society organizations – trade unions, women’s associations, environmental organizations, youth movements, peace mobilizations and many more are gaining strength and influence throughout the country.”
