Monday, May 6, 2013(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)
Labor support is building
for the
May 10-13 Poor Peoples Campaign March from Baltimore to Washington.
The march has been endorsed by both the Metro Washington and Baltimore labor
councils, as well as a number of local unions, including UFCW 400. “We view
this occasion as an opportunity to reaffirm, strengthen, and build upon the
historically strong, and mutually beneficial relationship between organized
labor, and the civil rights movement,” says Rev. Cortly "C.D."
Witherspoon, Sr. President of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference’s
Baltimore Chapter. Area unions can support the march by contributing
financially, organizing members to participate in the 3-day march from
Baltimore to Washington, and/or participating in the host committee to greet
marchers in Washington on May 13. For details, contact Witherspoon at
