Labor Photo: El Salvador's (Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

A delegation of labor activists from across the United States – including Metro Council Assistant Mobilizer Julia Kann  -- visited the Monumento a La Memoria y La Verdad (the “Monument To The Memory and the Truth”) in El Salvador on Sunday, April 28. The wall of 30,000 names in a San Salvador park lists just a fraction of the many Salvadoran civilians who were killed and “disappeared” during the 1970s and 80s. "This is one of the few public acknowledgements of this war that touched nearly every family in the country," Alexis Stoumbelis, Executive Director of the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador (CISPES) told the labor delegation, which is being led by CISPES this week.
