"Night at Camden Yards" Features Metro Baltimore Unions:

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

Baltimore-area union members and their families share in the spotlight at the May 31 AFL-CIO Night at Camden Yards, when the Orioles will host the Detroit Tigers. The annual event is great for raising union members' visibility in the city, says Baltimore AFL-CIO president Ernie Grecco. "We recognize union members on the field before the game," Grecco says. "All the unions are [displayed] on the scoreboard, we have (a union member who) that throws out the first pitch,” and a local union member sings the Star Spangled Banner. Tickets to the game are $6, with a dollar from each ticket benefiting the Baltimore Central Labor Council AFL-CIO's community services projects, including its Food Pantry and other services provided to members in crisis. Union members can contact their local union to reserve tickets. - report by Mariya Strauss
