(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)James Hale (right) received a 65-year Service Pin at last Saturday’s Ironworkers 5 Pin and Diploma Party. A member of Local 5 since 1948, Hale trained Ed McHugh (left), General Treasurer of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Ironworkers, when McHugh was an apprentice. The biennial event also celebrated Tri-County COPE activist and CSA golfer Hayes Calvin Jr.’s career with the Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as the graduating class of 36 apprentices. - photo by Kathleen McKirchy
