(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)The Metro Washington Council AFL-CIO last night approved a strongly-worded resolution of support for Fire Fighters Local 36 (DC Firefighters Outraged Over Gray's "Hypocritical" Request That Congress Intervene 4/11 UC), heard updates on the effects of the sequester, ATU 689’s transit campaign, how labor fared in the just-concluded Maryland General Assembly and much more – including endorsing the May 11-13 Poor People’s March from Baltimore to Washington – at the well-attended meeting, the delegate portion of which opened with a rousing rendition of Solidarity Forever by the DC Labor Chorus (right) in honor of their upcoming Spring Concert on May 4. - report/photo by Chris Garlock
