CSA Job Training Program Featured at Green Jobs Conferences(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Green jobs are not only good for the economy — they can also be a pathway for women’s economic equity.  Metro Washington Council Community Services Agency Executive Director Kathleen McKirchy will help present the “Adding a Gender Lens to Green Job Training Programs” workshop at next week’s Good Jobs Green Jobs Conference. CSA Client Services Coordinator Sylvia Casaro (right) participated in a similar workshop earlier this week at the Green Ways conference in Philadelphia. The Blue Green Alliance’s annual DC conference runs April 15-17 at the Washington Hilton Hotel and kicks off Monday with a panel discussion about “the need for a broad progressive movement to ensure that the U.S. adequately addresses our environmental, economic and democratic crises” with CWA president Larry Cohen, USW’s Leo Gerard, Mike Fishman, Executive Vice President of SEIU, and Michael Brune, Executive Director of the Sierra Club. The Gender Lens workshop, on April 17, will highlight how job-training programs in Detroit and Washington, D.C. – including CSA’s Building Futures – “are helping women transform pink to green.” - photo: Casaro presenting at the Greens Ways conference in Philadelphia, photo by @saraholdmixon
