Correction: Wage Theft a Bigger Problem

Yesterday’s report on the wage theft hearing in DC (“Unpaid Wages Issue Takes Center Stage at DC City Council Hearing,” UC, 3/5/2013) incorrectly stated that the DC Employment Justice Center calculated unpaid wages in DC totaling $260,000. In fact, the “bill” given to City Councilmember Barry was just “a snapshot of wages that are owed in the District,” representing the unpaid wages of 43 workers who signed the bill, DC EJC’s Hannah Kane told Union City. The $260,000 “isn’t an exhaustive number – if anything, it’s just a fraction of the unpaid wages in DC.” - photo by Julia Kann
