Activists Call for Solidarity with Injured City Workers

With thousands of injured DC government workers depending on the Public Sector Workers Compensation Program every year, community groups are calling for a better system. The program is intended to help injured workers pay for medical care, rent, and other basic necessities if they get hurt on the job, but “a decade of poor administration and noncompliance” has driven injured workers into poverty, says DC Jobs with Justice.  As a new budget season begins, DC JwJ and the DC Employment Justice Center are calling on local activists to sign a petition calling on the DC City Council to pass legislation that ensures better care for injured public sector workers.
