Labor on the Move: UFCW 400's Lucas & Perez Elected to PG NAACP

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)UFCW 400’s Diettra Lucas and Tony Perez have
been elected to key positions on the Prince
George’s County NAACP. Lucas (right),
Director of Community Growth Strategies for
Local 400, serves as chair of the Maryland
NAACP’s Labor and Industry Committee and will
be the local organization’s Community
Coordinator. Perez (left), Local
400 Director of Legislative Growth Strategies,
who was named “Labor Advocate of the Year”
in 2012 by the Prince George’s County Young
Democrats, will chair the PG County NAACP’s
Labor and Industry Committee. “The Prince George’s
NAACP has a dynamic leadership team and has
been a strong community ally and leader on
recent ‘Big Box’ bills in the county,”
Perez said. "One of our initiatives is to
ensure that we collaborate with our union
partners,” said Prince George's NAACP branch
President Bob Ross. “We are especially
pleased that we have Diettra and Tony on our
team. Unions are the backbone of middle class
families in Prince George's County and the
United States. We look forward to strengthening
the bond between the civil rights and labor
