Wages On The Way At Tackle Box; (Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Faced with the threat of workers and allies disrupting their lunchtime rush ("Wage Theft and Debt Focus of Two Wednesday Demos," UC 2/5/2013), Georgetown seafood restaurant Tackle Box late yesterday agreed to pay the more than $4,000 workers are owed in unpaid wages. But today's noontime action is still on, says DC JwJ's Ari Schwartz. The workers -- still waiting to receive the wages -- will be joined by allies standing vigil outside the restaurant to ensure they are paid. "If the workers receive their wages as planned," says Schwartz, "the entire group will move to the Georgetown Waterfront Park for a celebratory rally!" For more information contact Schwartz at ari@dcjwj.org. Also today, activists will rally on Capitol Hill at 11:30a to "Fix the Greed!" in an action targeting Wall street corporate front group “Fix The Debt.” Click here for more information.
