Labor On The Move: Pride at Work Names Darren Phelps as New Executive Director

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Pride at Work, the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) constituency group of organized labor, has selected longtime LGBT and progressive activist Darren Phelps (right) to serve as the organization’s new Executive Director. Phelps, who has been Pride at Work’s Associate Director, succeeds Peggy Shorey, who accepted the position of Director, State Government Relations and Deputy Director of Government Affairs at the AFL-CIO. “Darren is passionate about the Labor movement,” said Pride at Work Co-President Shane Larson, Legislative Director of the Communications Workers of America. “He will be a remarkable manager and advocate for LGBT workers across the country.”
