DC Professional Women in Construction Chapter Adopts Building Futures Program

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)CSA’s Building Futures pre-apprenticeship construction training program was recently “adopted’ by Professional Women in Construction’s (PWC) DC Chapter. The program was highlighted at PWC’s annual Holiday Reception, and two huge tubs of tools -- hammers, saws, tape measures, screwdrivers -- were donated by members to be used to assist graduates just entering apprenticeship programs and jobs. “This is a way to give back to the community,” said Vinesha Clark, president of the group. “We are joining forces with this great program this year to make a difference and help women enter the industry.” Members of PWC can be speakers, help connect graduates to jobs, and help mentor these new workers. - photo: Building Futures Coordinator Sylvia Casaro with donated tools; photo by Chris Garlock
