Opera Chorus Concert Benefits Needy Artists(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)The Washington National Opera Chorus’ annual AGMA Relief Benefit Concert will celebrate the music of the United States during Inauguration and MLK weekend. At the January 20 concert, the chorus will perform highlights from Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah, The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, and Till Victory Is Won by Mark Fax, as well as choral masterworks by Samuel Barber and William Albright and folk songs and spiritual arrangements by a host of American luminaries. Proceeds from the concert will go to the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) Relief Fund, which was established by the national union representing vocalists, dancers and production staff to help cover basic living expenses of members in severe financial need.
