UFCW 1994 Asks MontCo IG to Investigate Ervin for Possible Ethics Violations

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)UFCW Local 1994 MCGEO on Friday asked Montgomery County Inspector General Edward Blansitt to investigate possible ethics violations and conflict of interest in County Councilmember Valerie Ervin's dealings with real estate investor and developer Chris McGoff. According to Local 1994, Ervin secretly pushed for a $1.3 million contract with McGoff's firm to overhaul the county’s planning and zoning process that “clearly would have benefited Mr. McGoff in his real estate dealings.” Local 1994 is asking the IG to investigate whether Ervin's alleged push for the single-source, no-bid contract is a violation of the county ethics code.
