Tuesday, December 18, 2012

Rally Against Cuts Today on Capitol Hill(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Union and community members will rally on Capitol Hill today to tell Congress not to cut Medicare, Medicaid, and other programs working families depend on. “The organization my son Adam works for, the Philadelphia Unemployment Project (PUP), is bringing 2-3 busloads of unemployed workers to DC” says AFSCME Council 26 Executive Director Carl Goldman. With the so called “Fiscal Cliff” looming, unemployed workers are calling on Congress to extend the Emergency Unemployment Compensation program, which is slated to end within weeks unless Congress Acts. “Over 2 million jobless Americans will exhaust all their benefits between Christmas and New Years” writes PUP, which will join labor and community activists in telling Congress, “don’t leave workers out in the cold!” Click here for more information and to RSVP. - photo courtesy 99uniting
