Solidarity Center News: South African Domestic Workers Organize, Colombia Activist Fights for Human Rights(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Helping domestic workers form unions to ensure their jobs are safe and pay a fair wage is a passion for Gladys Mnyengeza (right). As a domestic worker in Cape Town, South Africa, for about 40 years, Mnyengeza well knows their struggles for decent work. In Colombia, Yessica Hoyos Morales, whose father was killed for his role as a union leader, is carrying on his fight in her work as a human rights laywer and activist for the thousands of union activists killed there over the past 20 years.
