Bruskin to Report on Recent Iraq Trip

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Local activist Gene Bruskin, co-convener of US Labor Against the War (USLAW), will report this Wednesday on the recent International Civil Society Solidarity Initiative conference in Basra, Iraq. Bruskin (right) is just back from a week at the conference, which brought trade unionists and other supporters from the U.S. and Europe together with labor, women's, student, environmental and other Iraqi organizations seeking to develop popular campaigns for labor rights and justice for Iraqi working people. Bruskin will discuss what he learned on the trip about life for ordinary Iraqis with the US military mostly out of the country and the impact the war in Iraq has had on their labor movement. - photo courtesy USLAW
