Elevator Constructors Give Lift to Local (Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

The life of a local soldier injured in the line of duty has been eased a bit, thanks to the installation of a home elevator by area elevator constructors and their contractors. It was “especially gratifying to know that we had real experienced pros on the case,” said John Raffetto, soldier Jay Raffetto’s father. “You have to know how much of a relief that was, especially dealing with an elevator.” The Wounded Warrior project brought together Elevator Constructors Local 10 and several of the union’s contractors, including Otis, Elcon and Commonwealth Elevator. “Being part of this project is an honor and a blessing,” said Local 10 in a report on its website. ”It gave some the ability to give back to a brave young man who gave so much to us.”
