$11,000 NALC 3825 Contribution Highlights Council Meeting(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)In addition to an exciting report from Monday afternoon's walkout at Walmart ("Walmart Strikes Spread to Metro DC," UC 11/20/2012), a highlight of Monday night’s Council meeting was the presentation of an $11,000 check to the Community Service Agency’s Emergency Assistance Fund by NALC Branch 3825 President Ken Lerch (right). The contribution was a result of extensive penalties on Rockville Postal Service management for delays in responding to grievances filed by Branch 3825 members, and Lerch lauded CSA and the Council “for your strong support and advocacy for your affiliates and for the local labor movement.” CSA Executive Director Kathleen McKirchy (left) – who also noted a generous contribution of $800 from AFGE Council 1 – thanked Lerch and Branch 3825 “for your generosity, which will make a huge difference for the workers and their families who turn to us each week for help.” - photo by Chris Garlock
