Trick-or-Treating for a Cause(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)This Halloween activists are celebrating – and making a difference – with the Paid Sick Days For All campaign and APALA-DC. Dressing up as sick chefs and waiters, some coalition members will go door-to-door trick-or-treating for signatures on their “Paid Sick Days For All” petition. “We want to let our neighbors know that not everyone in the city can take a day off when they get sick” says Jews United For Justice organizer Monica Kamen. Click here to RSVP. A Get-Out-The-Vote bar crawl is how activists in APALA-DC will celebrate Halloween. The group plans to bar-hop through Adams Morgan and U Street, handing out flyers urging people to vote in the November 6 election and then “cap off the night with drinks and dancing.” Click here to RSVP on Facebook. - photo of "chef without sick days" courtesy of JUFJ
